At B & E Gas Supplies, we have spent five decades providing people and businesses of the Illawarra, South Coast and Southern Highlands with quality gas and welding supplies. We have enjoyed the relationships cultivated over the many years and have the utmost appreciation for the loyalty of our customers that have been with us since the beginning, and the more recent ones that have joined us.

We are able to continue to provide quality service and products because as the fabrication and industrial sectors have developed over time, so have we. We recognise and honour change as a vital product of good business, and with that, we are continually adapting and developing our own strategy for a more sustainable operation that reflects the values we hold that enables ‘Social, Environmental, and Economic’ productivity without causing harm to people or the planet.

We believe that as a small business, we have a duty to empower other local businesses and encourage local jobs, we do this by sourcing local services and suppliers whenever we can.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals guide us in our endeavours to reduce our Carbon Footprint. We have begun the transition to lessening our Greenhouse Gas Emissions by switching to energy-saving lighting, heating and cooling and we are mindful of our water usage.

Internally, we have various recycling systems in place to avoid resources ending up in landfill. We aim to reduce our incoming and outgoing single-use materials by separating and recycling various materials to ensure optimal resource recovery:

We believe that energy and resource consciousness are crucial changes needed towards a cleaner earth and a circular economy where our actions predominantly focus on a ‘borrow > Use > Return’ practice rather than the current and unsustainable ‘take > make > waste’ approach. Like many manufacturing tools and machinery, they require regular servicing and occasionally repair. This is why ‘Repair & Refurbish’ are key principles within our business, and we regard this aspect of our operation as an integral step within our sustainability strategy to reduce unnecessary replacement of items.

At B & E Gas Supplies, the responsibility of our operations is taken seriously. Our Waste Management Strategy is in compliance with the objectives stated under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, and the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2001. Our waste management strategy is continually evolving as waste and resource recovery measures become available for hard to recycle items.

We endeavour to meet the objectives devised in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals with a view to inform, empower, support, and adapt to the challenges of a world in crisis.
